FlashRouters Open Source Fundraiser

FlashRouters is stepping up to help raise funds for open source projects like DD-WRT, Tomato and OpenSSL.  They have pledged to donate at least $5,000 to each project and hope to raise at least $25,000 during their donation matching drive.  Anyone who buys a device from FlashRouters will have the option to donate $1, $5 or $10.  FlashRouters will match that amount with the proceeds going to DD-WRT, Tomato and OpenSSL.

Here’s a quick breakdown of how the donation matching will work:

  • DD-WRT router purchases – 100% of donations will be split between DD-WRT and OpenSSL.
  • Tomato router purchases – 100% of donations will be split between Tomato and OpenSSL.

If you’d like to learn more about FlashRouters they offer an insightful video on their homepage.  The animated video is very well done.  It will walk you through the benefits of a custom router.  In a minute and a half you’ll learn just how much value their routers provide.  Replacing the factory firmware with DD-WRT or Tomato greatly extends the functionality of any router you choose from the site.  Take a moment to watch their video.

Always look at the top of their homepage for coupon codes.  They’ve been offering some nice discounts during the World Cup.  Once you select a router the donation process is simple.  On the router page you will have the option of donating $1, $5 or $10.  It isn’t a requirement of course but every dollar raised is greatly appreciated and matched by the FlashRouter team.
