ibVPN Releases Android App

ibVPN recently released an Android app for their online privacy service.  Free trial users and paid members have access to the Android client.  The app is now out of beta and available on Google Play.  You can also download it directly from ibvpn.com.  They have a “New VPN Client for Android” message on the left hand side of the home page.  Just click through and download it from there.  Remember to share any feedback or suggestions.

ibVPN Android app

Earlier this summer we tested PureVPN’s new Android app.  The ibVPN client is similar.  That’s a good thing.  It’s easy to use.  Once you log in the app will choose a location.  In our case it chose Phoenix by default.  Since that’s further away we tapped on the location drop down and selected a server in Chicago.  There are several options to choose from.  You can read our ibVPN Android review for a full list of locations available in the app.

We were impressed by the performance and server selection.  With locations available in eighteen countries.  They even specify a handful of P2P servers in the Android client.  Switching between server locations is simple to do.  Testing on a Samsung Note II we achieved 4 Mbps download speed on an AT&T 4G connection.

ibVPN has a full assortment of client software.  With a nice Windows VPN client.  Along with Android and iOS apps.  Their prices starting at $4.95 a month for unlimited VPN access.  ibVPN is one of a handful of VPN services we’re keeping a close eye on this year.  They have been around a long time and provide good service for a low price.  Give the new app a try.  They offer a 6 hour free trial which is enough time to check it out.
