Here’s a summary of the crime from the IPVanish Cyber Mystery page:
Dinny took a flight to visit a family member. Once he landed and attempted to check into his hotel, his debit card was declined. After calling his bank, he was informed that his account had been frozen and that $2,000 had been stolen. He contacted law enforcement officials and hired Jonh, a private detective. Detective John discovered the IP address from the retailers where the purchases were made.
Along with the first clue:
Detective John learned that Dinny had recently had an online chat with a representative from his cable provider to upgrade his package. During the chat, he provided the representative with his personal address and middle name. While the chat session was encrypted, Dinny noted that the support center was located in Frankfurt, Germany even though Domcast was located in the US.
